Addison Field Court
DuPage County has branch courts in Addison and Downers Grove. The Addison Field Court is located at 3 Friendship Plaza, Addison, IL. It is located in a plaza of village offices on the west side of Lake Street. The plaza includes the Addison Public Library and the Addison Police Department. In fact, the courthouse is located in the same building as the police department.
Parking is free in the plaza but it can be limited on busy days. Once you’ve parked, you’ll want to head to the police department, which is in the corner of the plaza. Head in through the main doors. There is no security line or metal detectors so you can get inside quickly. But be sure to follow the county’s security rules.
Usually, there are friendly greeters just inside the door. They will direct you to your left and up the stairs. Once you get to the top of the stairs (or elevator) the courtroom is straight ahead. There is only one courtroom so you cannot miss it.
Addison Field Court has a morning call at 8:30 am and an afternoon court call at 1:00 pm. Court is open Monday through Friday. The courtroom only opens 15 minutes before the court call, so there is no reason to arrive any earlier as you would just have to wait in the hallway.
The judge in Addison likes to start his call right on time, so it’s not wise to be late.
Before heading into the courtroom, it is a good idea to find your name on the list of cases for the day. It is posted in the hallway just to the right of the door.
Once you are in the courtroom, you can be seated. You do not have to check in with the clerk. If you have a lawyer, your lawyer will find you. We are usually up at the front of the courtroom getting a file, submitting paperwork, or speaking with the prosecutor. But don’t worry, we will call out your name and find you.
If you do not have a lawyer, just stay seated. The deputy will call out everyone’s name and provide further instructions.
What Is A Branch Court?
Branch courts are simply auxiliary courthouses. Most counties have branch courts located throughout the county. They are usually very high-volume courtrooms and relieve some of the pressure and congestion at the main county courthouse.
What Cases Are Heard In Branch Courts?
The Addison Branch Court primarily hears traffic cases. On any given day, there may be a hundred or more traffic ticket cases heard there such as:

However, Driving Under the Influence (DUI) cases are not heard in the branch courts in DuPage County. Those are all heard on the fourth floor of the main courthouse at 505 N. County Farm Rd., Wheaton, IL on the fourth floor.
