Location of Lake County Courthouse
The Lake County Courthouse is located at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois 60085. It is located just a few blocks west of Lake Michigan at the corners of Washington Street and N. County Street. It is about a 20 minute from Six Flags Great America.
Getting Around Lake County Courthouse
There is parking garage located just north of the courthouse on N. County Street and W. Madison Street. The parking garage can get full on busy mornings, but if you arrive early enough, you should be able to get parking there.
Parking is free for the first two hours. They do not take credit cards so plan on bringing cash, if necessary. If this lot is full, there is also street parking and many other parking garages nearby.
You’ll enter the courthouse from the main entrance across from the parking garage. You must pass metal detectors and security to enter. As of the date of this writing, you are permitted to bring cell phones into the courthouse.
Once you’ve passed security, you will enter an atrium area with a coffee shop and the library. You’ll want to walk down and to your left to find the elevators to the courtrooms. You can also contact the Waukegan office of the Lake County Clerk at (847) 377-3239.
